Red Dead Redemption 2 review

RPG Red Dead Redemption 2 has set a new standard for quality. Rockstar developers did a fantastic job, outdoing most of the competitors. New game is obviously fascinating, both technically and in terms of story. It will surprise all users, even those with high expectations.

Game Plot

The story begins in 1899. Civilization gradually comes to the lands that used to be called the Wild West. Times are tough for the Van der Linde gang. The unsuccessful robbery puts an end to the peaceful life of the gangmates. The only way out is to escape justice and the law as far away as possible. The protagonist of the game is Arthur Morgan. He holds true to gang tradition and is willing to lay down his life for his friends. Despite his status as a hardened thug, Arthur has no patience for injustice.

Great atmosphere

With Red Dead Redemption 2 the developers from Rockstar got it exactly right. Being in the gang’s camp, the player is immersed in the atmosphere of the last days of the Wild West. Someone is cutting meat in the camp, someone is making a fire, and someone is sleeping under the tree before the next task. As you approach the tents, you can learn about their inhabitants. For example, Hozia likes books and asks to bring some as soon as Arthur goes to town. 

The world of Red Dead Redemption 2 is lively. There are no ridiculous or superfluous characters here. Everything is as realistic and historically believable as possible. The secondary characters in the narrative do not become “amoebas”. They are individuals with their own judgements and plans. There is no statics. Dialogues are adequately spelled out. You gradually become convinced that the characters actually existed. The cinematic mode is activated in certain situations, and the camera shoots from excellent angles.

Variety in Missions

There are dozens of missions in Red Dead Redemption 2. Each mission has a backstory with plot twist, climax and denouement. Moreover the developers tried to take away the rose-coloured glasses from the Wild West legends. People here live in a harsh world, trying to survive, not always in an honest way. Sometimes a character’s future is decided by Arthur Morgan. The game offers no trivial quests. Many missions are interconnected. For example, after killing a man in one mission, in the next one you meet his relative, who pits Morgan against the police.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has a bounty hunter mode. Here, too, each mission has a backstory. As well as killing, you can get drunk at the camp, try your luck at gambling, rob a stagecoach, and groom horses. If you are wanted, you have two options – go to prison or go into hiding. However, in the second case you will be hunted down by bounty hunters. All in all, you will not be bored.

Visual Effects and Graphics

Only lazy person couldn’t praise the fantastic visual effects of Red Dead Redemption 2. Every moment of the game is thought out to the last detail. No mods or visual enhancements are required. Everything is so cool, that sometimes you forget about the mission and enjoy the magnificent sunset or neat houses of the next town. The game’s world is detailed, realistic and designed to every millimeter of space.

Thus Red Dead Redemption 2 has no disadvantages. If we want we can’t criticize the developers. They coped with their task by 1000%. The Rockstar developers didn’t re-invent the wheel, they just took the existing technologies and brought them to perfection. It is safe to say that in the world of role-playing games there is another masterpiece that needs to be tested in person.
